Getting the clubface release correct is important if you are going to hit the ball straight and/or you are going to hit the ball a long way. Often it is a natural instinct to simply swing through the ball without releasing the club face. This will cause the club face to be open and often lofted which causes the ball to go high and to the right. In order to get a better golf swing you need to learn to release the golf club.

What you need to do is focus on the back of your left hand. This is what will get the club face back to square at impact. Often amateur golfers will find that their swing is actually in good shape and they are on plane but still don’t seem to get the accuracy or distance you want. This is because the hands and arms are not rotating through impact.

If you are not releasing the golf club, Hank Haney explains that it is like you are hitting the ball with the side of your hand rather than the back of your hand. You need to rotate your hands so that the back of the left hand is facing the target at impact. After impact you need to continue to rotate the hands and arms. This is likely to give you a slight draw on your shots.
