Golf swing exercises will help you generate more power in your golf swing. The more power generated the more club head speed created and the further you can hit your shots. In this video, Mike Pedersen takes you through a very simple golf fitness exercise that will help you with your rotation. There have been a few posts lately focussing on rotating our swing around the body and this exercise will help you to do that.

All you need is a set of dumbbells and they don’t have to be very heavy, maybe 15lbs. Get in to your golf stance and hold the dumbbells next to your body at chest level, one in each hand. From there you simply rotate the body as you would in your golf swing. Ensure that you complete the rotation for both the back swing and the down swing. One complete rotation is 1 repetition. You want to be completing 3 sets of 12 – 15 repetition. You only need to do this twice a week and it can be done while you are watching TV at home.

This exercise will help you rotate further and will also help the torso generate more power through the rotation. It is important in this exercise to use your hips to generate the rotation. Remember that we are trying to generate power from the muscles close to our center of gravity (upper legs, buttocks and abs) and then transfer that force to our extremities (arms and club). Again, as with all exercises I give you, if you feel any pain stop immediately and consult a physician.
